How the IBS Diagnostic Test Works

Before ordering a PROMETHEUS^® IBS Diagnostic test, your doctor will conduct an examination to determine how likely you are to have IBS. If your doctor suspects that you have this condition, a PROMETHEUS IBS Diagnostic test may be ordered.

• The PROMETHEUS IBS Diagnostic test looks for patterns of certain components in your blood (known as biomarkers) that are typically seen in patients suffering from IBS
• As part of the test, your blood sample is run through software that is programmed to recognize patterns found in people with IBS - and to distinguish them from patterns found in people who do not have IBS
• For the first time, this state-of-the-art IBS pattern-recognition system gives your doctor test results that may help confirm whether or not you have IBS
