Talk to Your Doctor About Your IBS Symptom

Learning more about your condition is the first step to improving your health. If you have recurring abdominal pain or discomfort along with constipation or diarrhea, you may have IBS. You should see a doctor to discuss your symptoms. Only your doctor can provide a diagnosis and help determine the best treatment for you. PROMETHEUS® IBS Diagnostic is a test your doctor may wish to perform to confirm a diagnosis of IBS.

IBS Symptoms:

  • Recurrent abdominal pain or discomfort
  • Abnormal stool frequency (greater than 3 bowel movements/day or less than 3 bowel movements/week
  • Abnormal stool form (lumpy/hard or loose/watery stool)
  • Abnormal stool passage (straining, urgency, or feeling of imcomplete bowel movement)
  • Passage of mucus
  • Bloating or feeling of abdominal distension
  • Gassiness
  • Feelings of urgency (the need to find a restroom fast)

IBS is not a life threatening disorder, but patients should not suffer without seeking treatment or care to improve their lives. There is no cure for IBS, however, there are several ways to manage the symptoms and minimize the disruption of daily activities.
